Teenage boys rarely need much of an excuse to do crazy stupid things. Case in point: Depok Police say that a gang of youths went on a rampage last Sunday after they saw one of their female friends getting kissed by a random guy, injuring several people and causing a great deal of mayhem.
Police say the youths were part of a motorcycle gang from Bogor that called themselves “Geng Kencil”. They were caught on security cameras attacking a group of young people at the Grand Depok City (GDC) mall due to the aforementioned kiss which allegedly happened last Friday.
“The reason they attacked was because of solidarity and because they did not accept [this guy kissing their friend],” said Depok Police Chief Harry Kurniawan as quoted by Tempo.
Harry also told the media that the gang members were under the influence of multiple intoxicants at the time of the attacks.
“They consumed yellow pil anjing (dog pills) and drank red wine before attacking GDC. That’s what made them so bold,” Harry said. Pil anjing refers to a variety of benzodiazepine derived drugs like valium and bromazepam.
The Depok police chief said that the gang carried weapons such as machetes and knives and injured two people in their attack. They also destroyed 13 motorcycles.
Police say they already have four of the gang members in custody and are looking for four more. They face up to five years in prison for their crimes.
