Jakarta’s Gunners, rejoice! Arsenal legend, Robert Pires, plans to visit Jakarta in January 2015. The Arsenal Indonesia Supporters (AIS) fan club is organizing the Frenchman’s second trip to Indonesia.
“I’ve met with representatives from Arsenal, so if all goes well, Pires will be in Jakarta on January 22. There’ll be a press conference on January 23, and then a big event on January 24,” said Rawindraditya, AIS President, as quoted by Liputan6 today.
The big event will involve Pires attempting to break a record for playing football for the longest time with fans in Indonesia.
“The record breaking will be done on a pitch in the International Sport Club of Indonesia (ISCI) in Ciputat. Other than that, should Arsenal advance in the FA Cup, we’ll invite Pires to watch the match together with us,” Rawindraditya said.
“But that is not yet confirmed, because we have to see how Arsenal performs in the FA Cup.”
Arsenal has a tricky tie ahead of them in the third round of the FA Cup, as they face last year’s finalists Hull City on January 4.
