A former security guard, RM, who worked at a bank in Gambir, Central Jakarta, tried to steal money from the bank’s vault out of spite. Fortunately, he failed.
“RM was upset that he was fired as the bank’s security guard,” said Gambir Police Chief Susatyo Purnomo, as quoted by Kompas yesterday.
RM elicited the help of six friends to break into the bank one night earlier this month. They tied up the on-duty security guard at the time and also taped up his mouth.
The robbers then tried to break into the bank’s vault, but failed after several attempts. They then escaped in a silver Toyota Avanza, having stolen nothing.
Fortunately, the police managed to track the robbers down and arrested five of them, including RM, between July 18 and 25. One suspect, identified by the initials LS, is still on the loose.
