Fitri Aulia AKA ‘Spider-kid’ dies after getting hit by a train in Ciputat

Fourteen-year-old Fitri Aulia had managed to climb dozens of tall structures such as transmission towers without any safety equipment and had only once suffered a broken leg. Sadly, her luck ran out yesterday.

Fitri, dubbed ‘Spider-kid’ by the Indonesian media for her dangerous stunts, was killed yesterday afternoon after making her last climb at Pondok Ranji train station in Ciputat, South Tangerang.

“It’s true that the girl who was slightly ‘different’ because she liked to climb towers is gone. Yesterday, she got hit by a train after she was done climbing buildings in the Pondok Ranji train station,” said Ciputat Police Chief Commissioner H Damanik, as quoted by Okezone today.

Damanik did not explain how exactly Fitri got into the deadly accident.

Fitri climbed various structures such as the Ancol entrance gate and several transmission towers on her own in just the past few months. On one occasion, she only climbed down from a transmission tower after rescuers promised her Rp 100,000 in cash.

Rest in peace, Spidey.
