First person video shows protesting drivers forcing TransJakarta passengers off bus, attacking Go-Jek

More shocking scenes from today’s public transport driver protests are making their way onto social media, faster than we can keep up with. But we have seen several news reports that protesters have, on several occasions blocked the capital’s TransJakarta buses from driving along their routes, forcing their passengers down onto the streets and into the middle of the chaotic protests. And now we have a first-person video that shows just how scary that was for those passengers.

In this harrowing 12-minute long Periscope video, shot by Andine Adisy Putri this morning, protesters forced her TransJakarta bus to stop. When the passengers get off the bus, they are thrown into the middle of the protests and, at around the 2:45 mark, witness a Go-Jek driver being pulled off of his bike and attacked by the protesters.

(Note that link will take you to Periscope’s site and that Periscope videos are only rewatchable for 24-hours after they are posted)

The latest news we’ve heard is that things are still tense between protesters and police on the southern end of Jl. Sudirman, so please avoid the area (and all of the major roads around Central Jakarta) if at all possible.
