We were glad to hear that 21-year-old Danny Ashri Fajar Purba, a Universitas Indonesia student who went missing in January, actually went on a vacation to Bali and did not join a certain extremist group abroad. But according to his family, Danny has not yet been found.

“Danny hasn’t come home. There was no indication that he went on a vacation. The police also never contacted us after we reported Danny’s disappearance,” said Asti Purba, Danny’s sister, as quoted by Kompas yesterday.

Her statement contradicted the Depok Police’s claim that Danny has been found and has returned to his father’s home in Palembang.

“Even when my mother and father reported to the Jakarta Police, the police just told my parents to pray,” Asty said.

Now we don’t even know who to believe anymore. Why would the police or Danny’s family lie? Who is trying to cover up what?
