While President-elect Jokowi and Facebook CEO talked all matters Internet as the pair visited Tanah Abang on Monday morning, recently elected Deputy Speaker of the DPR Fahri Hamzah, was not impressed.
The politician from the PKS party said there was nothing special from Jokowi’s meeting with Mark Zuckerberg.
“We don’t have to look into it. We know Jokowi is the darling of social media, even Americans tweet about Jokowi,” said Fahri Hamzah.
But real issues, Fahri said, do not belong in the virtual world.
“We always ask, do we live in the real world or in a virtual world? What’s real is rolling blackouts, the scarcity of clean water, damaged roads, collapsed bridges,” he said.
Fahri Hamzah may have a point, but the power of Facebook with its 69 million users in Indonesia cannot be ignored nor should it be underutilized.
It seems like Jokowi and politicians from the Merah Putih coalition still cannot agree on anything.
