Event organizer lost out on Rp 64 million from the cancellation of ‘Splash After Class’ high school bikini party

It was no surprise that the planned ‘Splash After Class’ high school bikini party to celebrate the end of the National Exam was furiously panned by conservative quarters in Jakarta. Its cancellation not only caused a bunch of acne-ridden boys to sigh after losing the chance to see girls in bikinis, the event’s organizer also lost the chance to score some big cash.

The event was being put together by Divine Production, a team of event organizers specializing in Jakarta’s nightlife events. Its owner, Immanuel Siregar, said he was surprised that the public was so against ‘Splash After Class’, given that there are many similar debaucherous parties taking place in Jakarta week in, week out.

Immanuel predicted that Divine Productions would’ve made Rp 64 million for hosting the bikini party. That money would’ve been divided up with The Hotel Media and Towers, where the party was supposed to take place, as well as some going towards taxes.

“We would’ve made a clean profit of Rp 10 million,” Immanuel told Tempo yesterday.

But alas, all of that went up in smoke when the bikini party was cancelled.

Immanuel admitted that his company made the mistake of including the names of the high schools that were invited to the party in the poster. Otherwise, the party could’ve gone on without any fuss.

“We will apologize to all of the schools, the Tourism and Culture Agency, the Education Agency as well as the Indonesian Child Protection Commission,” he said.
