If anybody is actually familiar with matters related to Tesla, it’s everybody’s beloved Chief Twit, and he has taken aim at reports suggesting that the car manufacturer is close to setting up shop in Indonesia.
Bloomberg first reported on Jan. 11 that Tesla is close to a deal to build a factory in Indonesia, according to “people familiar with the matter.”
Yesterday, Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk tweeted this in reply to a rehash of Bloomberg’s story.
That’s all well and good, but “frequently false” is not necessarily entirely false, so could there be any truth to the reports?
Well, it’s no secret that the Indonesian government has long been trying to woo Tesla as the country seeks to capitalize on its rich nickel reserves to become a regional electric vehicle production hub.
Last year, President Joko Widodo himself met with Musk to discuss potential investments and technology. Before that, the president’s right hand man Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister Luhut Pandjaitan even gifted Kopiko to Musk during the former’s visit to the US.
Like, what more do you want, Musk?
