An officer who is often tasked with carrying out morality raids at nightlife establishments has been accused raping a karaoke attendant in Surabaya, East Java.

The family of the victim, DA, 25, said the hostess was working at the karaoke parlor in the early hours of Saturday. After she had too much to drink, she passed out in an office at around 5am.

When she woke up, DA felt that she had been violated. She reviewed CCTV footage of the room and saw a Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) officer, who also looked intoxicated, rape her twice while she was asleep.

“It turned out she was violated by the Satpol PP officer,” said DA’s brother Sukarjo, who filed a complaint with the Surabaya Police on Sunday.

The case is being handled by the Women and Children’s Protection Sub-unit at the Surabaya Police.

Separately, Surabaya Satpol PP Chief Eddy Christijanto said the officer in question has been relieved from his duties.

Under Indonesia’s Criminal Code (KUHP), rape is a crime punishable by up to 12 years in prison.
