Dogs are friends, not food.
Dog slaughterhouses are apparently a thing in Bekasi, with the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) raiding one just last week. The Bekasi city administration also shut down a dog slaughterhouse recently, but it seems the slaughterhouse is still killing poor, innocent dogs for their meat.
The satellite city’s administration shut down an illegal dog slaughterhouse in Rawalumbu, Bekasi, last Friday. But during a surprise inspection of the slaughterhouse on Monday, authorities found that it was still operational.
Authorities found three refrigerated dead dogs and three live dogs when they raided the slaughterhouse.
“This kind of animal slaughter does not comply with health regulation standards, so it must be shut down,” said Rawalumbu Sub-District Head Lukmanul Hakim, as quoted by Kompas today.
Shockingly, this gruesome slaughterhouse has been in operation for five years.
The owner, 55-year-old Gindo Sinaga, admits that he slaughters three dogs a day and sells the meat to customers in Tanjung Priok and Bekasi. He makes around Rp 50k in profit every day.
We hope the Bekasi city administration can enforce tough measures to shut down the dog slaughterhouse once and for all. As for the sick freak who owns the slaughterhouse, we hope he gets the punishment he deserves.
