It’s not everyday — heck, if ever — that we get a parachutist landing in our backyard, and that is one box residents of one house in South Jakarta managed to tick yesterday.
A member of the Indonesian Navy’s Denjaka counter-terrorism special forces was taking part in a parachuting drill on Thursday and was supposed to land on the Pondok Cabe airfield in Pamulang, South Tangerang.
The Greater Jakarta Area experienced brief strong winds yesterday afternoon, which blew the parachutist off course. The parachutist was forced to make an emergency landing in someone’s backyard in Ciganjur, South Jakarta, which is some 10 kilometers east of the airfield.
Footage that has circulated online shows his parachute stuck on a tree in the backyard at one point.
The Indonesian Navy said the parachutist made a safe emergency landing and was not hurt. He was picked up from the house by his colleagues soon after.
We’ll keep our ears open for developments to this story in case the parachutist meets the love of his life through this crash landing. At the risk of disappointing our readers who are huge K-drama fans, there seems to be no indication that this is a love story thus far.
