What are you willing to do in the name of love? One couple from Cakung, East Jakarta, turned to a life of crime so they could be with each other happily ever after… if their plan hadn’t failed.
Nani Suryani and her boyfriend K stole their friend’s motorcycle in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta early Tuesday morning. They planned the theft in advance so they could sell the motorcycle to fund their wedding.
Nani, a massage therapist in a parlor in Kelapa Gading, met K six months ago after K became her repeat customer. Not long after, the two decided to get hitched. But one obstacle stood in their way: they didn’t have the means to pay for a wedding.
K then suggested to Nani that they steal and sell a motorcycle belonging to Unaisih, Nani’s work colleague.
“The suspect (Nani) admitted that she was persuaded into helping steal the motorcycle,” said Kelapa Gading Police Chief Sutriyono, as quoted by Kompas yesterday.
Nani helped K drive off with Unaisih’s motorcycle. The next day, Unaisih reported her missing motorcycle to the police and had suspicions that Nani may have been involved.
The police interrogated Nani and she soon caved and admitted to her crime. She is currently in police custody while her boyfriend K is still on the run.
