Jakarta’s ‘other’ governor Fachrurozi Ishaq challenged legitimate Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama to a poll duel. Fachrurozzi wants to conduct a popularity survey between the two governors because he thinks Ahok was not chosen by the people of Jakarta.
“Ahok was a governor picked by President Joko Widodo,” Fachrurozi said from his home in Jatinegara (where he hasn’t paid his community tax in a while) on Wednesday, as quoted by Tempo.co.
Fachrurozi added that Ahok’s election as governor was inconstitutional, so he had no doubts about becoming the city’s counter governor as he is popular among the people.
“Just ask around, who doesn’t know me?” he said.
Fachroruzi, who claims he has the backing of religious organisations, students, and many others, said he’s not afraid of being compared to Ahok in terms of suitability to lead the city.
“Just spread the poll. We’ll see who wins,” Fachrurozi said.
Say what you like about Fachrurozi, but he inspired us to start our own mini-poll. Who do you think would make a better governor of Jakarta, Ahok or Fachrurozi? Let us know what you think by taking our poll below or on our Facebook page:
