Police in South Sulawesi are investigating allegations that an officer employed and raped a 13-year-old girl on multiple occasions.

The victim, identified as a middle-schooler from Gowa by the initials IS, was hired by the alleged rapist, an unnamed commissioned officer who goes by the initial M, as a domestic helper in September 2021. Soon after, the cop allegedly raped the minor multiple times over several months.

IS reportedly initially refused to have sex with M until he promised that he would pay for her school tuition and buy her a phone.

Unable to endure the sexual abuse, IS recently told her family about the allegations, who, in turn, filed a complaint with the police.

“After she had been [raped] multiple times, she came forward and told us everything that happened. She had been having sex [with M] since October,” IS’ sister AI said today.

M has been suspended and is under investigation by Internal Affairs, while IS underwent a sexual assault forensic exam at a police hospital in Makassar yesterday.

“The alleged victim is still a minor, so we have to be careful. We don’t want this to have an impact on her mental health,” South Sulawesi Police Internal Affairs Division Head Commissioner Agoeng Adi said.
