Consumers sold gas canisters filled with water in Kebon Jeruk

Given that gas canister prices are soaring, nothing would suck more than being sold gas canisters containing something else.

This happened to a Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta local when he bought a 12kg gas canister, only to find that other than gas, the canister was also filled with water.

“The buyer was my repeat customer. The gas canister that he bought can usually be used for a month, but it was out in just two weeks. When we checked, it turned out it was filled with water,” said Saiful, the merchant who sold the gas canister to the unnamed buyer, as quoted by Warta Kota yesterday.

Saiful said he wasn’t aware that the gas canisters that he sold were topped up with water, considering he doesn’t tamper with the products that were given to him by a supplier, PT Dasa Putika Jaya.

Both the buyer and Saiful are now demanding replacement gas canisters, without water in it this time.

So next time you buy a gas canister for cooking, make sure you check if they contain anything else than gas. You can’t start a fire with water.
