When a massive three collapsed on unsuspecting visitors in the Bogor Botanical Gardens last Monday, five people were killed while 20 required medical treatment. One week later, the death toll from the incident has risen to seven.

The latest victim to succumb to his injuries was 52-year-old Nur Ali from Cibinong, Bogor.

“Yes, he passed away late Saturday night after being treated for seven days in the PMI Hospital,” said Yudha Waspada, head of public relations at the PMI Hospital, as quoted by Warta Kota today.

Yudha said Nur Ali succumbed to extensive injuries to his abdomen.

Previously, 43-year-old Ahmad Saefullah became the sixth victim to pass away – the first who didn’t die at the scene – on Tuesday, a day after the tree collapsed. Ahmad passed away in Sentra Medika Hospital in Cibinong.

The casualty count now stands at seven deceased and 29 injured. All deceased victims were employees of PT Asalta Mandiri Agung who were having a gathering under the tree before it collapsed.
