Cleaning House: Ahok replacing 300 civil servants because they’re bad at their jobs

Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama certainly talks a tough game about making sure civil servants don’t slack on the job. But does he actually follow through on all that tough talk?

Yes, yes he does.

Next Monday, Ahok will be replacing 300 of Jakarta’s civil servants, specifically those belong to Echelon III and IV. Those civil servants getting fired performed poorly based on evaluations of their performance done by the Regional Personnel Agency (BKD) over the last four months.

“We’ve evaluated and gotten replacements for Echelon III and IV positions. On Monday, we will inaugurate 300 new echelon III and IV members,” said Agus Suradika, head of Jakarta’s BKD, as quoted by Merdeka

Although a list of the 300 people getting replaced has not been released by BKD yet, Agus said his office had candidates ready to fulfill all of their positions starting next week.
