PT KAI’s KRL Commuterline
Tens of citizens from Duri Kosambi, Cengkareng, West Jakarta surrounded the offices at the Rawa Buaya train station to demand railway operators PT KAI install proper safety measures on the Rawa Buaya railway crossing.
The protesters threatened they’d form a human shield to prevent train operations if their demands aren’t met.
At the very least, the protesters want PT KAI to install automatic barriers on the dangerous Rawa Buaya railway crossing.
“[The current] barrier is temporary, and someone must man it. Who’s going to pay the barrier man?” said Duri Kosambi Village Chief Herman, as quoted by Vivanews today.
Rawa Buaya Station Master Sularto said construction agencies, not PT KAI, should be responsible for constructing safe railway crossings.
Today’s protest was initiated by a railway crossing accident yesterday at Rawa Buaya, in which a man and her daughter drove a motorcycle onto the path of an oncoming train. The impact killed them both.
