Citizens clash on railroad, Bekasi-Jakarta train service disrupted

Two groups of citizens clashed in a brawl on top of the railroad between Klender and Cipinang train stations this morning. The incident disrupted train services that were supposed to pass through the two stations, particularly the Bekasi-Jakarta line of the KRL Commuterline.

“This morning, several KRL trips, especially those crossing the Bekasi-Jakarta Kota line, experienced delays because long-range trains and the KRL had to queue. The delays were caused by a brawl around Klender and Cipinang,” said Eva Chaitunisa, communications manager at PT KAI Commuter Jabodetabek (KCJ), as quoted by Kompas today.

Eva added that the brawlers eventually dispersed, but the effects from the delay was felt later on in the day as train services struggled to catch up to their initial schedules.

“PT KCJ would like to apologize for the lateness this morning, which was caused by the brawl in Klender-Cipinang,” Eva said.

It wasn’t revealed who were involved in the brawl or what caused it in the first place.
