Child Protection Commission outraged by after-school bikini pool party

The Indonesian Commission on Child Protection (KPAI) expressed their stern disapproval of a pool party, taking place this Saturday at the Media Towers Hotel in Central Jakarta, aimed at graduating high school students.

In particular, they were scandalized to find that the promotional materials for the event, called “Splash After Class,” states that the dress code includes bikinis, clothing which KPAI says violates social norms and can lead to violence against women.

KPAI Chairman Asrorun Niam also pointed out that advertisements for the pool party stated that it was being “supported by” a number of specific high schools including SMA 9 Bekasi, SMA 12 Jakarta and SMA 7 Tanggerang.

“Those schools must take proactive steps, do monitoring, provide clarification, so that there is prevention,” Asrorun said on Wednesday as quoted by Detik.

He also said police needed to take preventative measure to try to stop the party.

“Graduation should be celebrated with a positive, rather than this rah-rah, especially if later it leads to negative things. Stop this pointless activity,” Asrorun said, probably while wagging his finger.

Although the original promotional video for the “Splash After Class” party has been taken down, here’s another video of a recent pool party at the Media Hotel to give you an idea of what might have shocked KPAI so much.
