Update: A Nestle spokesperson has confirmed that two of their employees have now died due to the elevator accident.
A mechanical error caused an elevator in the Arkadia Office Park building, located on Jl. TB. Simatupang in South Jakarta, to fall four floors, injuring two and killing one this morning.
“There was an incident in which a lift fell in Arcadia Tower B, from the seventh floor to the third floor, affecting the special elevator for Nestle employees,” said Jakarta Police Head of Public Relations Commissioner Mohammad Iqbal on Thursday as quoted by Merdeka.
Iqbal said that the investigation had not yet been completed, but that the likely cause of the ffall was a mechanical error due to a rupturing of the lift’s sling cable.
The three victims were immediately rushed to Siloam Hospital, with two receiving treatment for serious injuries and one dying due to injuries.
