Daman Nuari Maulana and Dani, both 25-years-old, are about to tie the knot in May. But the happy couple was so close to never saying their vows when they came within inches of a certain death on Wednesday night.
Daman and Dani were driving to Puncak, Bogor that night for a pre-wedding photo shoot at the At’taawun mosque.
Then, at 9:30pm, a heavy-duty truck experienced a brake failure in Jalan Raya Puncak. The truck swerved and swept the three cars and seven motorcycles that were driving near it.
Daman and Dani were in one of those cars.
“It all happened so quickly. I was driving slowly, and I had just shifted down gears for the incline. All of a sudden the Fuso truck swerved. The pick up truck in front of me couldn’t avoid it. I hit the brake, but we still crashed,” Daman told Warta Kota yesterday, recounting the horrific accident.
The couple’s car was totaled from the crash. Luckily, they did not suffer from any major injuries.
“My chest hurts from being pulled back by the seat belt. Lucky I wore it. If I didn’t, I don’t know what would’ve happened,” Daman’s bride-to-be Dani said.
Others weren’t so lucky, as the accident claimed the lives of two people, while seven others were injured.
The victims were taken to the Cibereum Hospital in Cisarua, Bogor. Some of the injured victims had already been discharged from the hospital yesterday.
