BREAKING: Two explosions rock Jakarta’s Kampung Melayu neighborhood, suicide bombing suspected

Update 11pm: Indonesia’s National Police deputy chief Syafruddin confirmed that two people died – one of them a cop and the other a suspected suicide bomber. Five more, all cops, were injured.


Two explosions rocked Jakarta’s Kampung Melayu neighborhood tonight, believed to be the work of suicide bombers.

The blasts reportedly occurred in quick succession at around 9pm in a bus stop. The latest update from the police is that there are three victims in the explosions, all believed to be dead.

City bus operators PT TransJakarta confirmed via Twitter that the explosions were caused by suicide bombers.

That said, the police have not yet confirmed suspicions of suicide bombing.

The scene at the location is said to be horrific, with reports of torn off limbs and organs scattered around the blast zone.
