Groups of residents in the Bukit Duri neighborhood of Tebet, South Jakarta, had a violent clash this morning that left one person injured.
Molotov cocktails were among the weapons carried by the brawlers, and the improvised explosives led to fires in a neighborhood shop and prayer room.
The chairman (RT) of the local neighborhood, Imam, said that the brawl happened quickly and both groups were armed with several weapons.
Meanwhile, Tebet Police Chief I Ketut Sudarma said he had sent officers to the location of the brawl to prevent another fight from occurring there later in the day.
“The victim was treated and taken to a nearby hospital,” Sudarma said, as quoted by Vivanews.
Police in Beji, Depok, also reported a fight with teens that took place early this morning, with weapons including modified ice saws, however no injuries were reported as a result of the fight.
