Bambang Widjojanto to report “terrorizing police” to Komnas HAM over rough treatment during arrest

KPK Deputy Chief Bambang Widjojanto

Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Deputy Chief Bambang Widjojanto will report his arrest by the police to the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM), feeling that there were many “irregularities” with his arrest last Friday.

“We will report the arrest and we’ll release a statement [at the National Police Headquarters later],” said Priharsa Nugraha, head of the News Coverage Unit at the KPK, as quoted by Detik today.

According to Detik, Bambang recognized that there were administrative errors in his arrest and interrogation warrants. Bambang also said that, even though, he is a government official, the police terrorized him during his arrest.

Bambang claimed he was being fully cooperative, but the police still handcuffed Bambang in front of his children. Bambang was arrested as he drove his children to school on Friday morning.
