Sinta is one badass Jakartan who doesn’t tolerate bullshit.
She recently got on the 609 Kopaja bus in Srengseng, West Jakarta, going towards Kebayoran Lama. On the way, three pickpockets, identified by their initials AR, Y and B, got on the bus in Cipulir, South Jakarta.
“When the victim was getting off near the Kebayoran Lama fly over, the suspect, AR, pretended to warn the victim by saying, ‘be careful ma’am, there’s a motorcycle [passing by]’, to distract her,” said Kebayoran Police Spokesman Bowo Sukindro, as quoted by BeritaSatu yesterday.
The two other suspects took the opportunity to swipe Sinta’s mobile phone and wallet. Sinta only realized she was pickpocketed when she was already off the bus.
But Sinta is no damsel in distress. Determined to retrieve her belongings, she got on an ojek and told the driver to chase down the bus. When she caught up to the bus, the suspects had already switched to another Kopaja bus.
Sinta and the ojek driver then caught up to the other bus and found one of the suspects, AR. With the help of locals, she apprehended him and took him to the Kebayoran Baru Police Precinct.
The two other suspects are still at large, and they unfortunately were the ones who held on to Sinta’s belongings. The police are still trying to locate the remaining suspects, and we have a feeling Sinta is too.
