A 4-year-old boy identified as LF was killed yesterday evening, allegedly at the hands of his babysitter.
LF’s parent were away in Malaysia and left LF under the care of a babysitter, identified as Yul, in their home in the city of Singkawang, West Kalimantan.
Police say LF was killed after he became cranky because needed go to the bathroom.
“The victim was cranky and cried because he wanted to defecate. Meanwhile, Yul was enjoying her cigarette,” said West Kalimantan Police Spokesman Suhadi SW, as quoted by Tribunnews yesterday.
Yul then took LF to the bathroom. But LF’s cries hadn’t ceased by then, which riled Yul up even further.
“The culprit then burned the victim’s left arm twice with her lit cigarette, in the hopes that the victim would stop crying,” Suhadi said.
But LF only cried even louder from the pain. It was at this point that Yul strangled LF for several minutes until he suffocated and died.
Panicked, Yul tried to splash LF with water to try to wake him up. She then took him to a hospital, but LF was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Initial autopsy results ruled that LF died from suffocation. Yul, who has reportedly been LF’s caretaker for a long time, confessed to the murder. However, the police have not yet specified what charges she would face.
