Baby found abandoned on sidewalk wrapped in bag with MPR logo

The people living near the SMP 04 school in Tangerang’s Babakan Village heard the sounds of a baby crying on the street at around 10pm last night. Following the sound to its source, they discovered an abandoned newborn baby boy crying inside a black bag bearing the logo of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR)

“The baby was still alive, wrapped in pink sheets and a sajadah (prayer rug) in a black duffel bag. People found the baby at approximately 10pm,” said Tangerang Police Public Relations Head Commissioner Triyani Hand this morning as quoted by Okezone.

Police say there was no form of identification in the bag, but that the baby seemed healthy, weighing three kilograms and being 49 centimeters in height. Police say the baby also still had its umbilical cord.

Authorities immediately took the baby to be treated at the Tangerang District Hospital shortly after he was found. Police are still investing the baby’s identity and are trying to find out who might have left him in the bag.
