The Commission for the Protection of Children (KPAI) received a report of suspected child sexual abuse at an undisclosed international school in South Jakarta.
KPAI Commissioner Putu Elvina said they are investigating the report and have forwarded the matter to the Jakarta Police.
“So far, we’re waiting to see how the case develops because the report was only filed yesterday,” Elvina said at the KPAI office in Menteng, Central Jakarta, as quoted by Vivanews today.
Elvina added that the KPAI received the report from a parent whose child goes to the school. But they haven’t determined who the suspect is in the case might be.
Previously, five janitors were sentenced to eight years in prison in a high-profile child sexual abuse case at the Jakarta International School in 2014. A Canadian teacher and an Indonesian teaching assistant are currently on trial after they were also accused of sexually assaulting children in the school.
