An explosion rocked a police station in Bandung, West Java this morning, which was reportedly carried out by a suicide bomber.

According to Bandung Police Chief Aswin Sipayung, an unidentified man wielding a sharp weapon burst into the Astana Anyar sub-precinct while officers were conducting their morning assembly.

“And then there was an explosion. The culprit died in the lobby [of the sub-precinct],” Aswin said, without elaborating further on the extent of their injuries.

Police have yet to establish a motive for the attack.

Footage of the immediate aftermath of the incident has been circulating online.

Terror groups have targeted cops and police facilities in Indonesia in the past. The deadliest string of such attacks saw three families — including children as young as nine — affiliated with the IS-linked Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) suicide bomb churches and a police HQ in Surabaya, East Java. Including the suicide bombers, 28 people were killed and more than 50 were injured.
