A family of four living in the Baranangsiang Indah housing complex in North Bogor had to endure a terrifying ordeal after a gang of armed robbers broke into their home yesterday afternoon.
The father of the family, 63-year-old Latif, said the incident occurred at approximately 2:30 pm on Wednesday. At that time, he was with his wife while his two children were resting.
“The perpetrators came in and threatened my family with pistols and machetes. Then, my family was locked in a room,” he told Okezone.
The criminals then tied Latif’s family up by the hands and feet. After they were immobilized, the criminals proceeded to ransack the home.
In the end, the thieves made off with a laptop, five mobile phones and gold jewelry.
After the robbery, the offenders fled in a Daihatsu Xenia while the family tried to escape their ropes.
“In the same room where my son was held captive with wife there were some scissors. Working together, they were able to get the of scissors. Then they could free themselves. He (my son) went out of the room through the window, then report the incident to a guard. But the perpetrators have already gotten away,” Latif said.
The Bogor City Police are currently investigating the incident.
