So you might have heard that this little band called One Direction is playing here in Jakarta on Wednesday. In fact, the English-Irish boy pop band arrived in the capital today and their Indonesian fans greeted them with the ancient Indonesian custom of creating a bunch of weird memes celebrating their arrival.
With the number one and two trending hashtags in Jakarta this morning, #WelcomeToIndonesia1D and #ANJIR1DKEINDO (which sorta translates to #HOLY-SHIT-ONE-DIRECTION-IS-COMING-TO-INDONESIA) Directioners took to Twitter and posted a very weird set of pictures in which Niall, Liam, Harry and Louis (and sometimes Zayn, even though he won’t be performing in Jakarta) have been photoshopped into various scenes from Jakarta, most featuring the city’s infamous floods.
We’re not really sure what the connection between One Direction and floods are, or how any of these are supposed to be funny. But one thing we can tell from all of them is that Indonesian Directioners could definitely use some Photoshop tutorials…
