Animal lover alert: New ‘Adopsi’ app is here to help you find your favorite furry new friend

As any animal lover will tell you, there are far too many stray animals suffering on the streets of Jakarta and throughout Indonesia. The government’s animal control efforts are minimal at best and although there are fantastic organizations like the Jakarta Animal Aid Network out there doing their best to help save our furry friends, there is only so much they can do – especially when far too many Indonesians believe the only place to find a pet is the pet store.

That’s why a group of Indonesian animal lovers came together to create the Adopsi app, which is now available for free on Android phones via the Google Play Store

Adopsi helps facilitate peer-to-peer adoptions. Users who have dogs or cats that need a new home can upload photos of their rescues and include vital information such as the age of the animal, its size and whether it’s been vaccinated and sterilized. Those looking for a new pet can then search the database and filter results based on those factors.

Although the Adopsi app is quite new, there are already plenty of ridiculously cute kitties and doggies in its database. For example, all of these lovable looking pooches are from Jakarta, and they’ve all been listed as vaccinated, sterilized and kid-friendly.

Of course an app like this only really works if word about it is spread so that enough people who need pets know about it.

Rather than paying for an expensive purebred, why not give a home to a cute critter in need like this pup?
