Angry mob sadistically kills another motorcycle robber, thought about tying him to train track

As the number of violent motorcycle robberies increase throughout the Greater Jakarta Area, so too is the number of citizens willing to take the law into their own hands.

An angry mob sadistically beat up and killed a captured motorcycle robber in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, yesterday, even as they thought of even more horrific ways to kill the criminal.

Four motorcycle robbers were riding two motorcycles in Jalan Purbaya at around 8:30 am yesterday. When their robbery attempt failed, one robber, Cecep (34), was left behind by his three friends.

An angry mob captured Cecep and ganged up on the helpless robber. For a while, the angry mob thought about killing Cecep in one of the most heinous ways possible.

“It was horrific. The robber was going to be taken to the train track. The mob agreed to place him on the track. But in the end they just dragged him around and beat him up,” said Tri Wali, a witness to the horrific incident, as quoted by Warta Kota yesterday.

The mob was intent on inflicting their own version of justice even though there was one police officer at the scene.

“They still beat him up even when there was a policeman there,” Tri said.

After being beaten up, Cecep was taken to Kramat Djati Hospital, but died from his injuries on the way there.

Cecep is the second motorcycle robber to have been killed by an angry mob in as many weeks, after Hendriyansyah was burned alive by an angry mob in Pondok Aren, South Tangerang, on February 24.
