There was almost a repeat incident of an angry mob setting a motorcycle robber on fire in Bogor last night. But, unlike the robber who was burned alive by an angry mob in South Tangerang last month, this robber managed to escape the flames.
However, his fate was still pretty horrible. The robber died after being beaten to death by the incensed crowd.
The 23-year-old robber, named Sidik, was caught by locals after attempting to steal a motorcycle in Babakan Madang, Bogor Regency, last night. His two accomplices managed to escape.
“The suspect became the target of locals who were upset by the increasing number of motorcycle robberies in their area,” said Pahyuniati, head of the Babakan Madang Police Department, as quoted by Warta Kota today.
The angry mob beat up Sidik and even whacked him several times with a machete. Even after Sidik died, the angry mob wanted to set him on fire, but the police arrived before they could do so.
The police managed to remove Sidik’s body from the mob’s wrath before taking it to Ciawi Hospital for an autopsy.
