The latest horrifying example of Indonesian style mob justice took place early this morning, when a group of angry citizens caught and killed a robber on Jl. Pondok Betung in Pondok Aren, South Tangerang. 

Merdeka reported on the incident, calling the robber “sadistic” and saying he had injured people during his robbery attempt, but no other details about his crime were given in their report. 

Whatever he did, it would be hard to justify what happened next. After the angry mob caught the robber, they beat him to a bloody pulp. Then they covered him in gasoline and set him on fire. 

Several photos of the incident even appeared on Twitter. We’re not going to link to any of them here because they are simply too horrifying, but if you’re really determined to give yourself nightmares you could search Twitter for the name of the street where the incident took place.

However heinous this young man’s crimes were, what happened to him was inhumanly sadistic and evil as well. In these kinds of mob justice cases in Indonesia, most of the participants are never even charged with a crime, let alone punished. 

Hopefully the fact that people were stupid and evil enough to post photos of the brutal murder on Twitter will help the police catch those involved. If the police even bother looking that is.
