If you google “Hello Kitty porn,” you would ordinarily find yourself in the darkest, weirdest corners of the web. In Indonesia, though, you would probably find stories about this fresh scandal.
Out of Prabumulih, South Sumatra came a video of an alleged affair involving a man and a woman, who were getting it on in a purple Hello Kitty-themed bedroom. The scandalous video has caused a stir in the small city and has led to speculation that it was leaked by the wife of the man involved in the affair.
As we have come to expect in most sex tape scandals, police have moved swiftly to investigate the video.
“We have the names of the people in the video. We are hunting them,” Prabumulih Police Crime Investigation Unit Head Alita Firman said yesterday.
According to reports, the video was first uploaded by the man’s wife as an act of revenge. Though it’s unclear how she obtained the video, she posted it as a story on WhatsApp before it spread on social media platforms.
Under Indonesia’s strict anti-pornography law, the wife may be prosecuted for spreading the sex tape. There is also precedent for the jailing of people who record sex tapes with consent, even if they had no hand in spreading the illegal content online.
