Almost five months after Indonesia confirmed its first COVID-19 cases, the coronavirus has now completely spread throughout the capital Jakarta, with all 267 sub-districts (kelurahan) recording infections, according to official data.
Roa Malaka sub-district in Tambora, West Jakarta, was the one remaining area in Jakarta without a COVID-19 case before it reported two positive cases yesterday.
As of today, the total number of cases in Jakarta reached 18,365, with 11,552 recoveries and 755 deaths. According to data from the provincial government, four sub-districts in North Jakarta top the list of highest confirmed cases in the city, namely West Pademangan (242 cases), Penjaringan (197 cases), Sunter Agung (193 cases), and Lagoa (162), followed by West Cempaka Putih sub-district in Central Jakarta with 159 cases.
Although the coronavirus has spread throughout all sub-districts in Jakarta, only West Jakarta and Central Jakarta are included in the red zones, or areas with the highest risk of infection, while other municipalities (kotamadya) are categorized as orange zones, or areas with medium risk of transmission.
