Alfamart, one of Indonesia’s largest convenience store chains, is facing a PR controversy after a couple of images of its employees engaging in shenanigans in one of their outlets went viral.

The photos, which were posted to Instagram via its Stories feature, show two employees — one male and one female — committing a food hygiene faux pas as the female employee sits inside a freezer containing packs of frozen food while the male employee seems to be partaking in the cheerful occasion. One of the photos was captioned, “Keseruan tiada akhir haha” (endless fun, haha).

Alfamart has confirmed the authenticity of the photos and has issued a public apology on social media on behalf of the unnamed employees in the photos as well as anyone else who may have been involved.

In the apology post, Alfamart mentioned that the misbehaving employees would face unspecified “stern sanctions” from the company as a result of their actions.

The company did not reveal the identities of the employees, nor did they say which one of the chain’s thousands of outlets across Indonesia might contain frozen chicken nuggets contaminated by an Alfamart employee’s bum.
