Ahok shows PDI-P leanings in a series of tweets

Love or hate President Joko Widodo’s 34 chosen cabinet ministers, everybody’s got an opinion on the matter. Even Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, former Vice Governor of Jakarta to Jokowi, had something to tweet about.

A series of tweets from Ahok’s account (@basuki_btp) congratulated Jokowi and his ministers on beginning their five-year term. If Ahok had any criticism for his former boss, it’s because he thinks Jokowi did not elect three people Ahok thought would make great ministers.

Congratulations to Jokowi-JK’s cabinet. I hope you can get down to work quickly and efficiently to create a new Indonesia

In the future I hope the Jokowi-JK government can include Indonesia’s best people such as Eva, Rieke, and Ara.

Our friends [Eva, Rieke, Ara] possess great quality and I know they worked hard for Jokowi from the beginning.

The three people Ahok mentioned were Eva Sundari, Rieke Diah Pitaloka, and Maruarar Sirait, all gossiped to become ministers for Jokowi at one point or another. The three politicians are also from Jokowi’s PDI-P political party.

Questions were then raised about Ahok’s political leaning following his tweets, since the acting Governor of Jakarta quit Prabowo Subianto’s Gerindra political party over ideological differences.

I’m not with the PDI-P. I’m focused on work as acting Governor of Jakarta.

Jokowi and Ahok were a match made in heaven when they governed Jakarta. Could it be that Ahok is issuing a plea to PDI-P so he can join them in the near future? Or were his tweets a sign of what he would do if he became Jokowi’s vice-president? 2019, perhaps?
