With high school students across Indonesia taking the National Exam starting today, Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama decided to visit SMK 27 in Jakarta this morning to share some words of wisdom with the students.
In his speech, Ahok relieved some of their pre-exam stress by saying that grades aren’t everything in life.
“Those who get A’s will become college professors, but those who get B’s will become bosses,” Ahok said, in reference to himself who he claims was a B student, as quoted by Tempo today.
Ahok also slipped in some inspirational words for the students.
“What’s important is honesty. Those who are honest are more fortunate. Work and effort, not certificates, shape our integrity,” he said.
We sure would have a lot of great leaders in this country if more of our politicians followed Ahok’s principles.
