Ahok: “I don’t want to wear a bulletproof vest”

Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama has made a lot of enemies as he takes on the Jakarta City Council with corruption allegations. But the governor says he’s ready to face any consequences, however dire that may be.

Ahok said even his parents-in-law pleaded with him to wear a bulletproof vest to protect himself.

“I don’t want to [wear a bulletproof vest], let’s get it over with now,” Ahok said at City Hall today, as quoted by Detik

“The loss from my death is small. That’s why I’m learning about the art of dying. I’m very serious, I know the risks I must face.”

Well, for the sake of Jakarta and the future of clean politics in Indonesia, we hope nothing horrible would happen to Ahok.
