Trigger warning: Sexual assault, violence involving minors

Police in Tasikmalaya, West Java are investigating the death of an 11-year-old boy, who was believed to have died amid severe depression after bullies forced him to defile a cat.

According to authorities, the boy, who was relentlessly bullied by his peers, passed away on Sunday. He became depressed and refused to eat after his bullies forced him to have sex with a cat, filmed the incident, and posted the video online to compound his humiliation.

Authorities believe the boy kept the shame to himself and did not even tell his parents about the incident.

“Before the boy died, he was a victim of violence and bullying by his friends, to the point that they told him to have sexual relations with an animal,” West Java Child Protection Institution Program Manager Diana Wati told reporters yesterday.

“We’re still looking into whether or not the child had other medical conditions, or if he died purely because he refused to eat due to the depression.”

The West Java Police says it has launched an investigation into the boy’s death, but it has yet to identify any of the perpetrators.
