If the satellite city of Bogor experiences heavy rainfall, then it’s very likely that Jakarta will get flooded. This is because Bogor is situated on land elevated above Jakarta. Water from Bogor flows from the hilly region down to the capital, mainly through the notoriously flood-prone Ciliwung River. Perhaps it’s only fair then that Jakartans in turn often flood the city of Bogor with tourists during national holidays. Aside from visiting the various sites the city has to offer, such as the wonderful Botanical Garden and the Presidential Palace, Bogor is also situated close to the famous hilly resort town of Puncak, home to Taman Safari Indonesia safari park. Bogor is the smallest of all the satellite cities that make up the Greater Jakarta Area. However, it is still a large city and is the 14th largest city nationwide, home to over 1 million people.
