Bogor anticipating influx of tourists during Idul Fitri holiday

Out of the people staying behind in the capital during the Lebaran Idul Fitri holiday, chances are many are going to spend a couple of days unwinding at nearby Bogor’s many tourist attractions.

For that reason, Bogor Mayor Bima Arya Sugiarto is anticipating an influx of tourists into his city during lebaran.

“Bogor is the favourite destination for tourists, especially during days 2 and 3 of Lebaran, as they coincide with the weekend. We must anticipate the flow [of tourists] coming in so there won’t be macet,” Bima said yesterday, as quoted by BeritaSatu.

Based on previous years, tourists are predicted to flock to the city to visit Kebun Raya Bogor (Bogor Botanical Garden), as well as Bogor’s shopping and culinary centers.

“The crowds were extraordinary, every place was crowded with visitors. If we don’t anticipate and manage [the flow of tourists], situations like this can cause safety and comfort issues for the citizens,” Bima said.

The Bogor Transportation Agency is deploying 130 field personnel to potentially crowded streets to direct traffic flow during Lebaran.
