Senayan City mall is certainly no stranger to gruesome deaths. After a security guard was stabbed to death in the basement parking lot last year, and last Sunday morning a man plunged to his death from the 6th floor of the mall’s car park.
The police believe that the victim, identified as 33-year-old Kurniadi, committed suicide. Before he jumped, Kurniadi briefly chatted to a couple of security guards, who are the only two witnesses to the incident.
“He just said [to the guards] that he was going to jump. He asked what time church would be open for service. The witness also said [Kurniadi] asked to pass on his apology to his wife,” said Commissioner Mustakim, head of the Crime Investigation Unit for the Tanah Abang Police, as quoted by Vivanews.
Sadly, the guards were unable to prevent Kurniadi from plunging into his death.
Mustakim added that Kurniadi may have been under the influence of alcohol as he was carrying a liquor bottle before he jumped.
Kurniadi’s body was taken to the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital for an autopsy.
