De La Soul at Potato Head Garage
Yes, it’s true, legendary funk rappers De La Soul are playing tonight at Potato Head Garage. And no, they haven’t cancelled yet! (Forgive us for being paranoid after that last minute Mos Def cancellation earlier this year).
Best known for their seminal premiere album, “3 Feet High and Rising” and their hit “Just Me Myself and I,” fans know De La Soul’s music has just gotten richer and deeper since their hayday. Guaranteed to be a great gig.

Carnival Royal at Lucy in the Sky
In a stroke of perfect time, Potato Head Garage’s upstairs neighbor, Lucy in the Sky, is having its third anniversary party on the same night as De La Soul. It should be the perfect place for a few drinks before (or after) the gig.
The perpetually-packed-on-the-weekends LITS may be among the shortest, but they kicked off the rooftop bar trend in Jakarta and have hosted a lot of fun events. They will definitely throw a lively birthday party for themselves.
Tonight’s anniversary shindig has a Mardi Gras theme so masks, beads and feathers would all be appropriate attire. Anton and Hogi Wirjono will be manning the decks. Oh, and did we mention they’re promising free cocktails from 9-10pm?

One of two awesome Secret Agents arranged performances this weekend. An intimate and packed gig to be sure (get there early, Tokove can only fit about 100 people). The headliners are Senyawa, an awesome indie band from Yogyakarta. whose sound defies our abilities to describe (just watch the video below)
Backing up the boys from Yogja will be international lineup including Horse Macgyver (Sydney), Szkieve (Belgium/Canada) and Luc Pendeaux (Vietnam).

“HOPE – A Fundraiser for DJ Izl” at Fable
Party for a good cause. A portion of sales will go towards helping out Fable’s resident DJ IZI, who is currently in the hospital suffering from health problems. To help there boy out the club’s got an impressive slate of DJs including Stan, Foo, Putri Danizar and Six Pratama, among others.
