Anybody who has seen epic Indonesian action movie “The Raid” instantly remembers Mad Dog, the brutally brilliant martial arts master who prefers the fun of killing a man with his bare hands than simply shooting them.
Mad Dog was memorably played by Yayan Ruhian, who also acted as the honorable hitman Prakoso in “The Raid 2.” Since starring in those two highly acclaimed films, he has landed numerous role in foreign film productions, including the upcoming “Beyond Skyline” and “Star Wars: Episode VII” (alongside his Raid co-star Iko Uwais).
But Yayan also did a film in Japan with legendary director Takashi Miike, who has had a prolific and wide-ranging career but is best known for his extreme horror, crime and action movies such as “Audition,” “Ichi the Killer” and “13 Assassins.”

Miike’s next movie, “Yakuza Apocalypse,” looks to combine elements of those three genres into one totally insane over-the-top spectacle of Japanese weirdness. According to the official description, it’s about a Yakuza gangster who discovers his boss is a vampire. When he becomes one himself, their battle with another gang turns epic.
This newly released trailer is in Japanese, but you don’t have to speak the language to get how crazy this film looks. In the middle of the trailer we get a few glimpses of Yayan looking a bit nerdy (though still kicking ass) while wearing glasses and a backpack. But towards the end of the trailer, shit gets serious and we get to see him in his full badass Yakuza tattooed glory.

“Yakuza Apocalypse” comes out in Japan on June 20. No word yet if or when it will come to Indonesia, but we’re going to find a way to watch this one way or another.
