Watch Yayan Ruhian AKA Mad Dog kick ass in ‘Yakuza Apocalypse’ (in cinemas starting July 1)

As huge fans of ‘The Raid’ films, we’ve been giddy in anticipation of the new Japanese movie, ‘Yakuza Apocalypse’, simply because Yayan “Mad Dog” Ruhian stars in it.

Well, it looks like the long wait is over because the movie is going to be shown in Blitzmegaplex cinemas starting tomorrow.

The movie, from legendary Japanese director Takashi Miike, is about vampires as much as it is about Yakuza gang wars. It sounds like an oddly delightful combination, and with Mad Dog thrown into the mix, the movie should be a must-watch for fans of action movies.

We’re not entirely sure what role Mad Dog is playing (having gone from spectacled nerd to badass tattooed Yakuza fighter in the trailer above) but whatever role it is seems to be written specifically for Yayan.

“Alhamdulillah, the first time I worked outside Merantau [film studio] is in a movie from abroad. I got the part without an audition,” Yayan said at the movie’s Indonesian premiere yesterday, as quoted by Detik.

Well, of course, legends don’t have to audition, especially when it comes to movies with heavily choreographed fight scenes. We still can’t get enough of Yayan’s badass skills from his previous movies.

Yayan Ruhian and his ‘The Raid’ co-star Iko Uwais are also featuring in two upcoming Hollywood films, ‘Beyond Skyline’ and ‘Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens’.
