Last year it was announced that the world famous Madame Tussauds wax museums had chosen Indonesian President Joko Widodo to join their collection of life-like statues depicting world leaders (he apparently beat out Donald Trump in a poll of visitors which helped the museum make its decision) in Madame Tussauds Hong Kong branch.
Well, work on the Jokowi wax statue is well underway. And if you’ve ever wondered what goes into making one of Madame Tussauds creepily realistic exhibits, this video will give you a pretty good idea;
The Madame Tussauds team can be seen not just measuring and photographing every centimeter of the president, but also checking out how Jokowi moved and behaved. The museum spokesperson notes that Jokowi embodies some of the best qualities of the Indonesian people (hardworking and humble) and that he was very friendly, taking the time to help the team get his replica just right.
President Joko Widodo’s statue will join Madame Tussauds Hong Kong’s ”Historical and National Heroes” zone in summer 2017.
